GPSA steps boldly into the future with leadership changes and expanded focus

In a significant move that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, GPSA is broadening its reach beyond traditional GP and RG supervision. As the organisation evolves to meet the shifting needs of the wider healthcare landscape, a new leadership structure will support this transformation - anchored by a commitment to innovation, sector support, and strategic growth. That's a wrap on this year's ENGAGE survey!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to GPSA's 2025 ENGAGE national supervision survey. By sharing your reflections and hopes for the future, you have equipped GPSA to drive future policy to improve support for those involved in GP training and the sustainability of our primary healthcare system.

And a big congratulations to the three winners of our random prize draw: Elizabeth Honey, Carla Croaker and Dr G, NSW.

Introducing the ‘Orientation to supervision’ program

In Australia, women GPs outnumber men, yet they remain under-represented in GP supervision. Women shared the barriers they face in becoming GP supervisors, and we listened (one page summary and published paper).

In 2024, we partnered with women GPs to design resources and programs to support and encourage more women to step into GP supervision roles - helping grow the next generation of GP supervisors.

Women GPs have told us they wanted information to orient them to the role of GP supervision, map the supervisor career pathway, and hear stories from other women GP supervisors. This program is a response to that call, celebrating the unique role women GPs play in inspiring and empowering the next generation of women GP supervisors.
