Introducing the ‘Orientation to Supervision’ program

Published on April 16, 2025

In Australia, women GPs outnumber men, yet they remain under-represented in GP supervision. Women shared the barriers they face in becoming GP supervisors, and we listened (one page summary and published paper).

In 2024, we partnered with women GPs to design resources and programs to support and encourage more women to step into GP supervision roles - helping grow the next generation of GP supervisors.

Women GPs told us they wanted information to orient them to the role of GP supervision, map the supervisor career pathway, and hear stories from other women GP supervisors. This program is a response to that call, celebrating the unique role women GPs play in inspiring and empowering the next generation of women GPs supervisors.

Who can participate in the program?

While the program was designed with the needs of women in mind, participation is open to all new fellows, GPs and GP supervisors – everyone is welcome. Whether you're exploring supervision for the first time or returning after a break, this program provides clarity, inspiration, and practical support to help you confidently step into the role.
