CEO Update April 2026

Published on March 31, 2026

It is hard to believe that it is April - April fools day, the end of daylight saving and the middle of Autumn. As I reflect back on the first quarter of 2026, I think about the various activities I have been a part of and on the priorities I have focussed on.

Focus is a challenge at the moment - so many distractions globally, pressures nationally and demands locally.  How do we know we are focussing on the right things - practice priorities, job descriptions, patient demands, time out for ourselves when we need it? For me, focus comes back to constantly asking ourselves what are the most important things I need to work on today, tomorrow, this week, this month.

At GPSA, our focus for the past few weeks has included: responding to member enquiries (we always value hearing from you); working on our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan (to ensure we are focusing on the things we should be); and putting together the ENGAGE National Supervisor Survey (that I hope you will take a few minutes to complete - we really need your feedback!).   Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey despite busy schedules.

What else is GPSA focussed on at present?

Our 2026 Webinar program is in full swing, attracting large numbers of attendees. Our NTCER consultations and work with GPRA has commenced with the view to finalising this in April. Our website is being re-developed (and we hope you will find this easier to use). The call for abstracts for conferences has begun. Our first ever 24 Hour Symposium begins on 12th May which is very exciting.

Happy Easter all - I hope you get to focus on what is important to you over this time.

Interim CEO
