RMA25 - It's a wrap!
Supervisors Networking Lunch
A highlight was certainly the GPSA-sponsored Supervisors Networking Lunch. Sarah Ferguson, Board Director and Bruce Argyle, CEO, welcomed round 150 supervisors attended the lunch from all over Australia and that it was appreciated by those we spoke with. Attendees particularly valued the collegiality and the opportunity to swap stories with fellow supervisors as can be seen in the photos taken by our team.
Connections with Canada and Japan
Friday morning Sara Fergusson attendied both the ACRRM and RDAA AGMs. At the latter, there was great excitement as members learned that RDAA members are now conjoint members of the Society of Royal Physicians Canada — an exciting development that could open new opportunities for collaboration and professional exchange.
Sara and Bruce also enjoyed a fascinating conversation with Dr Manabu Saito, Director of the Department of Health at Sosa District Hospital in Japan. Dr Saito shared his inspiring journey from emergency medicine to island practice to medical education, driven by a deep passion for supervision. His ED Fellowship in Okinawa even included retrieval training similar to Australia’s RFDS model.
The discussion highlighted both the parallels and unique aspects of GP supervision in Japan and Australia. We talked about parallels and distinctives of supervision in the two countries and vowed to explore ways that we could work together and share resources and expertise.
