The upcoming RGTS-AGPT consolidations
As part of the upcoming consolidation of Rural Generalist Training Scheme (RGTS) and the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) funded pathway, supervisor support payments will shift to the National Consistent Payments (NCP) framework and supervisors may be eligible to access further support through Flexible Funds.
If you don't already have one, you'll need to create a Provider Digital Access (PRODA) account and tick 'GP training' in the registration process. In your PRODA account, follow the steps to add your bank details to ensure you receive the payments that you are eligible for from Semester 1, 2026.
RGTS registrars are in the process of completing key requirements to ensure they are ready to begin training under the AGPT funded pathway from Semester 1, 2026.
Registrars, supervisors and training posts are encouraged to get in touch with their regional training program advisor to discuss questions or concerns about the consolidation.
New Supervisor Podcast Episode: Funky Supervising
What happens when supervision steps outside the box? In the third episode of the ACRRM RG podcast Supervisors’ Compass, Dr James Best and Professor Richard Hays are joined by Dr Dan Manahan to explore creative, “funky” approaches to supervision — the different, sometimes unconventional ways that help build connection, confidence, and joy in learning.
Drawing on their combined experience across rural general practice, medical education, and supervisor support, the conversation delves into how playfulness, trust, and shared experiences — from theme days to bushwalks — can strengthen relationships and create richer learning environments.
