CEO Update - July 2025

Published on June 29, 2025

IIt’s a jungle out there … a complex and at times competing sector. The health and medical landscape can be wonderfully collaborative and focused on best practice—but at other times, risks losing sight of the quality outcomes we all want for our patients and clients.

After 10 weeks in my new role as interim CEO at GPSA, I’ve gone from navigating the maze of TLAs (three letter acronyms) and organisational complexity to recognising just how multifaceted this space is. A myriad of different entities strive to represent practitioners, and by and large, they do.

For those of us working in the health sector, no matter the hat we wear, it’s vital that - despite full schedules and heavy workloads - we carve out time for reflection and professional development. Just as important is taking a moment to celebrate our successes and acknowledge that we are making a difference in our corner of the world.

Reflecting on my career as a CEO or Director across ten different organisations in the NFP, health and community sectors, one thing stands out: we don’t always show enough kindness - to ourselves or those around us. We’re all human, and we all need support and recognition to stay healthy, motivated and well.

At GPSA, I’ve found a Board and staff deeply committed to supporting high-quality supervision through research, resources, education, and strong advocacy for members. When Supervisors are respected, valued and equipped, the registrars they guide are all the better for it.

In this ‘health sector jungle’, let’s keep working together to focus on what matters most, look after ourselves, and celebrate our achievements big and small.

TLA – Team Leader Argyle
