1. Nominations for key positions on the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine’s Board of Directors and College Council, including College President, opened on Monday 24th June.

The ACRRM Board and Council are pivotal in guiding the College's strategic direction, overseeing governance and ensuring that the voices of rural, remote and First Nations communities are heard and addressed.

Nominations are now open for:

  • President
  • Two (2) Directors of the Board
  • Councillors representing Tasmania, New South Wales, and Victoria.

ACRRM President Dr Dan Halliday, who completes his term at the College’s Annual General Meeting in October, says this is an exceptional opportunity for ACRRM members and community representatives to have a significant impact on the direction of the College and the future of rural generalism.

"My tenure as President, along with my previous experience on the College Board, has provided me with invaluable opportunities to advocate for our profession.

“It is deeply satisfying to contribute to the enhancement of healthcare in rural, remote, and First Nations communities.

“The College Board is a representation of the diverse perspectives of the College membership and includes a balance of gender, geography, age, and more.

“We recently launched our 2024 to 2028 strategic plan; we are experiencing an exciting period of growth; and recognition of Rural Generalist Medicine as a specialty within the specialty of general practice, is just around the corner.

“We look forward to receiving nominations from people who have the drive and the commitment to be an influential voice for their peers and profession,” he says.

All interested parties are encouraged to visit the ACRRM website for detailed information on eligibility, the nomination process, and to access the necessary forms.
