CEO report

Published on August 31, 2026

Having introduced myself in our last issue, I wanted to share how the first weeks in the role have actually felt.

I joined GPSA in mid-July, and if I'm honest, the thing that's struck me most isn't a system or a strategy document - it's the people. Every conversation I've had with the team has reminded me why this work matters: supervisors are quietly carrying so much of the training system on their shoulders, often without much recognition, and GPSA exists to make that a little easier and a little less lonely.

Six weeks in, I've spent most of my time listening. I've been getting to know the team, sitting with our 2026–30 Strategic Plan, and meeting the partners and stakeholders GPSA works alongside across the sector. What I've found is a team that genuinely cares, and a foundation that's stronger than I think it often gets credit for. I'm looking forward to building on it with you.

I'd also like to again thank Bruce Argyle for his steady leadership through the transition, and the whole team for making me feel so welcome.

In September, the team is coming together in person for two days, which I'm genuinely excited about. We'll be working through what our strategic plan actually means in practice, not just words on a page, but clear, shared priorities we can get behind together. I'll share more on where that lands in the months ahead.

You'll also see more of us out and about over the coming months, as we attend industry conferences and events. If you see us, please come and say hello. Honestly, those conversations with members are the best part of the job, and they're also how you help shape what we prioritise next year.
