
Media Release - GPSA strengthens leadership to support the supervision community
General Practice Supervision Australia (GPSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Board Directors and a new Director of Research and Policy, further strengthening its commitment to supporting GP supervisors, practice managers, and the broader supervision community.
The appointments bring expertise across general practice, rural health, education, governance, finance, and research, enhancing GPSA’s ability to advocate for and support quality GP supervision and training.
New Board Directors
Dr Lisa Hall is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Evaluation with Monash Rural Health and Education Champion for the North West Victorian Regional Training Hub. She brings extensive expertise in rural and regional health education, supervisor development, and curriculum design, with a strong focus on strengthening supervisor support, building teaching capability, and supporting a sustainable rural medical workforce.
Dr Meryl Nicol is a New Zealand GP and Medical Educator with the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS). She has worked extensively across rural, First Nations, Māori, refugee, and culturally diverse health settings in both Australia and New Zealand and is passionate about supporting registrars and supervisors.
Mr Tim Wilson is a Certified Accountant who brings strong expertise in financial governance and risk management. He will Chair GPSA’s Risk Management and Governance Sub-Committee.
New Director of Research and Policy
GPSA also welcomes Dr Danielle Couch as Director of Policy and Research. Her appointment reflects GPSA’s commitment to evidence-based leadership and strengthening the connection between research, advocacy, and policy.
Dr Couch will lead GPSA’s growing research portfolio, including projects focused on supervisor wellbeing, workforce sustainability, women GP supervisors, First Nations initiatives, and the Annual National Supervision Survey.
