Important changes to improve the RACGP Fellowship Support Program

Following consultation throughout 2025 with registrars, supervisors, training sites and stakeholders, the RACGP is introducing phased improvements to the Fellowship Support Program (FSP) to enhance training environments, support a flourishing GP workforce, and better align with RACGP educational frameworks.

Phased improvements

The improvements will be introduced across three application periods:

From 2026.1:

• Training can only commence at sites and with supervisors accredited against the RACGP Standards for general practice training.
•  Current FSP registrars who change their training site or supervisor must also ensure the new site and supervisor are accredited.

All other program requirements remain unchanged.

From 2026.2: Applicants must complete the national entry assessment to support transparent and consistent selection across RACGP programs.

From 2027.1: An uplifted FSP structure will provide stronger support, enhanced training experiences and closer alignment with RACGP educational frameworks.
