Women GP Supervisors—Find Your Tribe!

Introducing Women supervisors’ CIRCLE : A new program for women GP supervisors

Women supervisor's CIRCLE is a new program designed specifically for women GP supervisors to connect, collaborate, and grow together in a safe, supportive online space. It provides an opportunity to share experiences, refine your supervision skills, build confidence, and expand your professional network.

Women GP supervisors asked for a space where they could come together to share what matters most to them and support one another’s goals and needs without being confined by rigid structures or hierarchies. This program is a response to that call, recognising the unique perspectives women bring to GP supervision and the importance of sustaining and empowering this cohort.

Women supervisor's CIRCLE: The meaning behind the name

The focus on “women supervisors” highlights the central focus on women in leadership roles as supervisors, role models and mentors, recognizing their unique experiences and the energy, expertise and dedication they bring to their roles. This program was created to recognise, support and empower women supervisors to continue contributing to the long-term sustainability of general practice in Australia, while also inspiring the next generation of women GPs to enter and thrive in supervision.

“CIRCLE” is inspired by the rich tradition of yarning circles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, where people gather in safe, respectful spaces to share stories, learn from and understand one another, fostering meaningful connections. This tradition aligns with our program’s emphasis on creating a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment where each voice is valued. It represents Collaboration, Inspiration, Reflection, Leadership, and Empowerment—reflecting the core values of a nurturing, interconnected community.

We invite women GP supervisors – whether novice, experienced or expert - to express your interest in joining Women supervisors' CIRCLE and contribute to evaluating its impact.

Whether you’re new to supervision and looking for guidance or an experienced supervisor seeking fresh perspectives or renewed excitement for the role, Women supervisors’ CIRCLE—co-designed by women, for women—offers something for everyone in a supportive community.
