RACGP comunique for November 2024: for more information visit racgp.org.au
1. Reminder - changes to Workplace Based Assessments for 2024.2
This semester, GPT1, GPT2, and now GPT3 registrars need to complete:
- two supervisor-run mini clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX)
- two supervisor-run random case analysis (RCAs).
These will be completed by supervisors directly in the training management system (TMS), like term assessments are. The assessments will appear as required in 2024.2. Please get in touch with your training coordinator if you have any questions.
2. Key Feature Problem exam format will change from 2025.2
The Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam is one of three Fellowship examinations your registrar undertakes to assess their competency for unsupervised practice in Australia.
From 2025.2, the KFP exam will no longer require handwritten responses. The exam will consist of 70 individual scenarios, each with a multiple selection question (MSQ) that is answered on a paper bubble sheet. This format will be familiar to candidates as it’s similar to that used in the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT).
The exam content will continue to assess clinical decision-making and reasoning, based on the RACGP curriculum and syllabus.
You can help your registrar prepare for the KFP by discussing cases and identifying the key features that impact clinical care. Further exam support resources are available on the RACGP website.
3. Placement process - Medicare provider numbers due 29 November
The RACGP has reminded registrars to complete their Medicare provider number (MPN) paperwork by Friday 29 November. The paperwork must be returned to the RACGP to ensure registrars have an active MPN in time to begin their 2025.1 placement. Further information on the MPN process can be found here
