New NTCER Agreement finalised for 2025-26

Published on September 2, 2024

The 2024 review of the NTCER has successfully concluded, resulting in an updated Agreement that both GPRA and GPSA are confident will provide much greater certainty for our members as they navigate the employment relationship that underpins training placements for AGPT registrars.

The specific changes for 2025.1 include:

  1. A significant change to the minimum billing cycle for all registrars to ensure compliance with employment legislation, from 13-weekly to monthly
  2. An increase in base rates for GPT1/CGT1 registrars only, applied as 3.5% in 2025.1 and a further 3.5% in 2026.1
  3. Additional content to clarify:
    • Dispute Resolution
    • Fatigue Management
    • Employment under Fixed Term Contracts
    • Upcoming changes to Superannuation legislation
    • Leave Entitlements
    • Educational Release

Additional details can be found in the GPSA/GPRA joint media release and GPSA's NTCER webpage, where links to new FAQs will be added ahead of the placement process for 2025.1.
