Gold Bow Day - 1 September 2024
The Australian Thyroid Foundation’s Gold Bow Day raises awareness about the importance of being aware of symptoms and changes to your thyroid gland, which may be a result of thyroid cancer. This year’s message is #CheckYourNeck.
Thyroid cancer is increasing with more younger Australians being affected.
Please don’t ignore any physical changes to your thyroid gland and any symptoms which may be related to changes in your thyroid function, such as:
Your thyroid gland has enlarged or become painful.
You can feel or can see any lumps on your thyroid gland.
You have developed a persistent cough, or you constantly clear your throat.
Your voice has changed in volume or has become croaky.
You have trouble swallowing or sleeping due to discomfort in your throat.
Your thyroid function has changed, resulting in hypo- or hyper-thyroid symptoms and blood results.
Please speak to your doctor and ask for a thyroid ultrasound and thyroid function blood tests if you are concerned.
Please don’t ignore the importance of good thyroid health!
