November 2022... Lasts and firsts as the end of the year hurtles toward us

Published on September 24, 2023

Last meeting of RTON (face to face in Adelaide); last opportunity to participate in a panel discussion for GPTQ; last meeting of the National Council of Primary Care Doctors under RACGP leadership; last workshop for the RACGP research study.

First face to face meeting with GPSA Education Manager Dr Simon Morgan, and first strategic planning session with the marvellous Dr Karen Nicholls in a far too brief visit to Newcastle; first bi-peak workshop as part of the NTCER review; first GPSA webinar with DOHAC presenter (National Consistent Payments); first meeting as part of the Advisory Network of the National Rural Health Commissioner; first RACGP conference!

OK, so now I have those lasts and firsts out of the way, I can get to the other things that kept us busy this crazy November!

  • I've met with the team leading the Victorian WPP organisation and attended the 2nd steering group meeting for the Queensland WPPO.
  • Kevin and I presented an update about the NTCER review with GPRA's President Antony Bolton and CEO Jo-Anne Chapman at the second 2022 face to face GPTAC meeting (on the eve of GP22).
  • I've sourced a serviced office in Melbourne which will give us a new street address and phone number in time for these to go onto the next triennium's AGPT grant application due earlier this week.
  • Team GPSA has celebrated Christmas early with a hilarious night trying to get out of 2 escape rooms in Melbourne's Crown Casino.
  • We've started the process of being accredited CPD providers with RACGP.
  • We've started introducing the new trading name passed in the AGM last month, and welcome Practice Managers to the "Ordinary" category of membership so they can vote at next year's AGM and possibly have one of their number elected as a Director for the first time in 2023.
  • We've been exploring options for a more interactive website to really make it hit home that everything GPSA does is Community-driven, whether research, education, member services or advocacy... and all of that starts with member engagement.

And of course then there was GP22! Need we say more?!
