Pull up a chair: Conferences, Advisory Council, and Board nominations

Conference season is here

As we slide into the final stretch of 2026, I'm struck (as I am every year) by how quickly this last quarter arrives and how much it always manages to pack in.

It's also, conveniently, conference season, and your GPSA team will be out and about at both RMA26 and GP26. If you're heading to either, please come find our booth.

These events are one of the best chances we get all year to sit down face-to-face with members, hear what's actually happening on the ground in your practices, and talk through where you think our advocacy energy should go next. Whether it's supervisor remuneration, workload recognition, training capacity, or something else entirely that's been bugging you, we want to hear it.

Pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and tell us what's on your mind.

SLOAC meeting next week

Next week, the GPSA-facilitated Supervisor Liaison Officer Advisory Council (SLOAC) will meet in Sydney.

This group is one of the most valuable feedback loops we have between supervisors on the ground and the work GPSA does at a national level. I'm looking forward to a productive meeting.

We'll bring you a summary of key discussion points in the next newsletter.

Board nominations opening soon

Finally, nominations for the GPSA Board will open shortly. If you're a supervisor who's ever thought "someone should really do something about that", then this is your invitation to be that someone.

Board work isn't always glamorous, but it's genuinely one of the few levers we have to shape supervision policy and support at a national level.

If you've got energy, ideas, and a bit of time to give, we would love to hear from you. Keep an eye out for the formal call for nominations soon.

Thanks, as always, for the work you do - busy season and all.
